Week 1

1. Establish what is existing in the Trakiya Neighborhood.

Archive findings:

– 3 articles throughout the mid to late 70’s from the Magazine ‘Архитектура’, the country’s architectural publication.  Luckily, one of the articles focuses on my region of the complex, A9.

A zoomed in region of A9, my bloc highlighted, and my specific apartment highlighted.

From these articles I found the organization of the individual apartment floors and vhods (vhod = entry.)  The floorplans were designed so that they could be repeated and joined, some units designed to join on the short axis, others on the long axis.  Each unit has a vhod.  The vhod’s are repeated to create the bloc.  Depending on the lay of the land, and the sun, the vhods are stepped together.  More to come on the coves created by this.  These are some of the units (or vhod’s) in my region of Trakiya, A9.
