My parents bought my grandparents 1970’s rambler lake house. Their lifestyles are drastically different from that of my grandparents, and the layout of the home was completely counterintuitive to how they live. Aiming to keep the humble character of the original rambler, I rearranged the spaces, redefining the home from the inside out to better reflect the lake lifestyle.
The house was opened up for large sweeping views to the lake by pushing into the garage. The kitchen becomes the control center, flowing out onto a deck, back patio, and living, entertaining guests arriving from the lake. The creature comforts of a large master suite and a large garage were also accomplished.
From the inside, the open floor plan and large spaces flooded with light make this lake home feel like anything but a humble rambler.
