“We took these monotonous rectangular buildings that marched across the other countries of the Soviet Union and we tried to instill some individuality!”
“We knew we had to do panelblocks, it had to happen fast and cheap.”
“That was what it was going to be… it was the technology of the time! And we had the concrete factory that made the panels right here in Plovdiv!”

“We zigzagged them. We designed it so some apartments suck in and some apartments push out and we alternated, giving each apartment the feeling of some sort of individuality..”
