ending long weekends

Trakiya was emptied out for the long weekend.

The wide spaces between the blocks felt especially vast as the holiday and the weather had everyone back in their villages, taking care of the gardens, fixing roofs, and digging to install plumbing.

But as the sun sets on Sunday, the cars take up their spots on the sidewalks again,  and the people come limping and sore to their benches and gathering spots.  They start swapping stories with their neighbors about that other never ending project they all have, each of them, from all around the region, the mountains, and the country.
